Getting started

Sign in, find your way around, create your first pipe and task.

Signing in

The sign-in page offers the ways your instance allows:

  • With Outline — type the address of your Outline server (it is remembered in your browser, and you can add others), then continue with Outline (OAuth) or paste a personal Outline API key. Everyone in your Outline workspace is imported at your first sign-in, so you can send them tasks right away.
  • With your e-mail address — create an account with your address and a display name; a link sent by e-mail signs you in. You can also be invited by someone already on TasksPipes.
  • With your company's sign-in — Continue with …, when your administrator has set up OpenID Connect.

Finding your way

The sidebar holds everything:

  • Search (or Ctrl + K / ⌘ + K) finds any task you can see;
  • My dashboard, My tasks, Next action and Calendar gather your work across all pipes;
  • your Incoming shows tasks waiting for you, with a count;
  • your pipes, pinned pipes, teams and people follow;
  • your name, at the bottom, opens the account menu: settings, invitations, calendar link, about, sign out.

Your first pipe

Every personal space starts with a Personal pipe for general tasks. To create another one, open a space (your own, or a team's) and click New pipe: give it a name, choose a type from the catalog — its columns and task types come with it — and decide whether it is private or open (others can add tasks to it).

Your first task

On a pipe's board, click New task (or Add at the bottom of a column). Give it a title, pick a task type if the pipe offers several, fill in its fields, and save. Then drag it from column to column as work moves on.

To hand a task to someone, use Send to…: it lands in their incoming.
